Mining Cryptic Biosynthetic Gene Clusters for Novel Bioactive Compounds and Biocatalysts

In the Parkinson laboratory, we are interested in discovering novel natural products with potential for drug discovery. We also explore biosynthetic enzymes for their potential as biocatalysts. We utilize a variety of methods including organic chemistry, chemical biology, microbiology, synthetic biology, bioinformatics, and analytical chemistry.
